Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam has just signed a decision on mechanisms to encourage the development of solar power projects in Vietnam.
Organizations and individuals involve in the development of grid-connected solarpower projects (excluding using roof solarpower) are given some privileges such as land, output’s supporting.
Specifically, all the electricity produced from solar power projects will be purchased, given priority to exploiting full capacity, etc. The price for grid-connected solarpower projects is USD0.09/kWh (excluding VAT tax). This price will be adjusted depending on the fluctuation of VND and USD exchange rate.
This price is quite high, due to the average electricity’s price of EVN is currently only USD0.07/kWh.
According to the Prime Minister's decision, the cost of buying electricity from solarpower projects will be fully calculated. It will be parameter for calculating the annual electricity’s sale price of EVN.
An official of the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) expressed that the decision of the Prime Minister will boost the investment in solarpower from investors, especially in some locals with high number of sunny days in the year, increasing the rate of renewable energy in Vietnam.
