In September 2026, the Mekong Delta Tourism Association recognized five tourist destinations as meeting the 2026 Mekong Delta Green Tourism criteria, with three of them located in Can Tho City.
Developing Quality Green Destinations
The Hung Kings' Temple in Can Tho City, Victoria Can Tho Resort, and TTC Can Tho are three destinations and accommodation facilities that have been surveyed, evaluated, and recognized by the Mekong Delta Tourism Association as meeting the "Mekong Delta Green Tourism" criteria for 2026.
The Mekong Delta Green Tourism criteria are categorized by specific models, ranging from tourist attractions to hotels and travel agencies. Notably, the Hung Kings' Temple in Can Tho City stands out as a key cultural and historical landmark for both the city and the Mekong Delta region. The site focuses on promoting cultural values, preserving heritage, and fostering community responsibility alongside sustainable tourism development.
Meanwhile, Victoria Can Tho Resort met 128 out of 134 criteria, boasting highlights such as effective green tourism management and operations; a green, clean, and beautiful landscape; compliant wastewater and waste treatment systems; and a priority on using eco-friendly products and energy. Additionally, the resort employs approximately 80% local staff and actively participates in community-oriented activities, contributing to socio-economic development.
Victoria Can Tho Resort is renowned as a high-end retreat that integrates sustainable eco-tourism in Can Tho. The resort distinguishes itself not only through its traditional Asian architecture and lush green spaces but also through its commitments under the "Green Journey" initiative.
Ms. Vo Xuan Thu, General Manager of Victoria Can Tho Resort, shared: "Green tourism certifications help establishments enhance their sense of responsibility and improve brand recognition, particularly in international markets." This is also one of the reasons why Victoria Can Tho Resort has maintained green practices over the years, placing particular emphasis on environmental responsibility, local community development, and the promotion of indigenous cultural values.

Similarly, TTC Can Tho has been recognized as a "green" accommodation provider thanks to its investment in eco-friendly facilities and equipment, effective wastewater and waste sorting and treatment processes, and the maintenance of services that meet "green, clean, and beautiful" standards. Management and operations are conducted efficiently, incorporating digital technology.
A Wide Range of Green, Multi-Experience Models
According to Agoda’s 2026 sustainable travel survey data, over 81% of Vietnamese travelers surveyed consider sustainability a key criterion when choosing a destination. Approximately 43% of Vietnamese travelers desire more sustainable accommodation options when planning their itineraries. This demand is driving accommodation providers across Vietnam to actively implement sustainable practices.
In recent years, an increasing number of destinations and accommodation providers have pursued prestigious green certifications, thereby enhancing the quality of their products and services, demonstrating environmental responsibility, and fostering the long-term development of the tourism sector. In Can Tho, many tourist sites, eco-gardens, and homestays are adopting principles such as using eco-friendly construction materials including bamboo, palm leaves, and local timber limiting single-use plastics, and encouraging visitors to engage in agricultural activities that reflect the local culture. Mr. Vo Nguyen Minh Thai, Director of Sales and Communications at Cantho Eco Resort, stated: "Green certification in tourism is essential for destinations. We have implemented various green tourism practices, such as using recycled products and eco-friendly materials, maintaining green spaces like orchards, and creating diverse agricultural experiences. We also adhere to the green tourism criteria established by the Vietnam Tourism Association and the Mekong Delta tourism bodies."
At Cantho Eco Resort, the leisure space blends harmoniously with clean agricultural zones, allowing guests to personally harvest and enjoy fresh produce on-site. This approach links the vacation experience with learning about local agricultural production.
Meanwhile, Mekong Silt Ecolodge has chosen a green tourism development path rooted in preserving indigenous culture and supporting local communities. Ms. Huynh Thi Bich Tuyen, Director of Mekong Silt Ecolodge, shared: "Beyond using eco-friendly materials to construct the resort, we apply circular economy principles to our operations scientifically maximizing resource efficiency and minimizing waste to derive full value from the materials used at the resort."
In Can Tho, various green tourism models ranging from business-led initiatives to community-based projects have made a strong impression on visitors. Achieving the Mekong Delta Green Tourism certification serves as a foundation for these establishments to further refine service quality and strengthen their commitment to the environment and the community, gradually establishing Can Tho’s green tourism identity on both the domestic and international tourism maps.
