Lam Dong: Unique Buddhist scripture carvings on Ta Cu Mountain aim for a National Record.

According to information from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province, Ta Cu Mountain is finalizing the application for a National Record for a large-scale Buddhist scripture carving project, directly carved onto natural rock formations. The application has been submitted to the Vietnam Record Organization to recognize the project's exceptional value in terms of scale, content, and cultural and spiritual significance.

The stone block is inscribed with the Great Compassion Mantra, consisting of 415 characters corresponding to 84 verses of the mantra.

The project focuses on two prominent features: a stone block inscribed with the Heart Sutra, comprising all 260 characters rendered in traditional calligraphy, combined with solemn Buddhist motifs.

The scriptures are carved 3-5cm deep into natural stone, covered with gold paint, creating a striking visual effect while maintaining solemnity. The combination of calligraphy, sculpture, and natural landscape contributes to the unique aesthetic and cultural value of the Ta Cu Mountain area.

The project not only holds spiritual significance but also helps affirm the unique identity of the Ta Cu Mountain tourist area, promoting the local image as a typical cultural, tourism, and sports destination of Lam Dong province.

Ta Cu Mountain – A meeting point between spirituality and nature. Ta Cu Mountain boasts a peak of 649m and is famous for its 49m-long reclining Buddha statue – considered the largest reclining Buddha statue in Southeast Asia. It harmoniously combines spiritual tourism, ecotourism, and cable car experiences, located approximately 30km from the center of Phan Thiet and 170km from Ho Chi Minh City.

During the Lunar New Year of the Horse (Bính Ngọ), tourists came to worship at the Ta Cu Mountain Tourist Area.

TTC World – Ta Cu Tourist Area is located near National Highway 1A, in Ham Thuan Nam commune, Lam Dong province. It is a large-scale tourist complex integrating many cultural and historical sites and resort services.

At the foot of the mountain, visitors can explore, enjoy the scenery, savor local cuisine and coffee, and participate in group activities. Notably, it boasts a giant wind chime tower – recognized as the largest wind chime tower in Vietnam in 2024, offering a unique "healing" sound experience amidst the natural surroundings.

Pilgrims flock to Ta Cu Mountain for worship.

At the summit of Ta Cu Mountain are two ancient temples: Linh Son Truong Tho Temple, featuring traditional Northern Buddhist architecture with curved tiled roofs, motifs of two dragons flanking the moon, and an ancient, moss-covered space. Despite numerous renovations, the temple retains its serene and sacred atmosphere, associated with the spiritual journey of the founding master Huu Duc.

Linh Son Long Doan Temple, built in 1890, boasts a more modern architectural style while still maintaining the tranquility of a Buddhist monastery. Within its grounds are the ancestral tomb and the tombs of the founding masters – a familiar pilgrimage site for visitors from all over.

In addition, the area also features a set of Amitabha Triad statues, a Maitreya Buddha statue carved from stone, and a pristine forest, creating a fresh and peaceful atmosphere.

This destination attracts a large number of tourists. During the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Horse (Bính Ngọ), from the 1st to the 7th day of the first lunar month, Ta Cu Mountain Tourist Area welcomed nearly 35,000 visitors who used the services and experienced the cable car. On the 7th day of the first lunar month alone, the Ta Cu Mountain Cross-Country and Climbing Race attracted approximately 20,000 participants.

Notably, international visitors accounted for about 30% of the total, coming from various countries; of which, Russian visitors made up over 60% of the international visitors.

With its combination of cultural, spiritual, natural, and sporting values, along with the Buddhist scripture carvings on the rock that are currently being considered for a National Record, Ta Cu Mountain continues to affirm its position as one of the unique destinations in the South Central and Central Highlands regions of Vietnam.
