Nearly 400 athletes conquered Ta Cu mountain peak.

On the morning of February 23rd (the 7th day of the Lunar New Year), the cross-country and mountain climbing events of the 2026 Ta Cu Mountain Climbing Competition of Lam Dong Province took place in Ham Thuan Nam commune (Lam Dong).

This year's tournament brings together nearly 400 athletes from 37 units inside and outside the province, competing in 3 categories: Provincial Sports Festival; open; and amateur.

Athletes competed in two distances: 5,300m women (3,000m cross-country, 2,300m mountain climb) and 6,300m men (4,000m cross-country and 2,300m mountain climb); competing in 15 individual and team events for men, women, and the overall team across three categories.

The Ta Cu Cross-Country and Mountain Climbing Race attracted participation from many units, localities, clubs, and athletes from within and outside the province. This demonstrates the increasingly strong development of the cross-country and mountain climbing movement, which has been established and developed over many years.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Tam, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized that the 1st Lam Dong Provincial Sports Festival is a particularly important milestone in the development of sports in the province.

The Ta Cu Mountain Climbing Competition not only contributes to promoting mass sports and physical training, but also serves as an opportunity to evaluate and select athletes, preparing for the upcoming National Sports Games.

At the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee also honored TTC World Ta Cu, one of the units that contributed to creating a professional, large-scale, and safe competition, strongly spreading the message of sustainable tourism, sports, and community development in the locality for many years. It also promoted the image of Ta Cu Mountain – a typical cultural, tourist, and sports destination of Lam Dong province. Ta Cu Mountain, with its peak reaching 649m, is famous for its reclining Buddha statue, the largest in Southeast Asia, measuring 49m in length.

Mr. Huynh Ngoc Tam, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province, presented flowers and a plaque recognizing the contributions to World TTC Ta Cu.

After more than 30 minutes of competition, in the women's open category, first place went to Nguyen Thi Thanh Tuyen (Lam Dong Provincial Training and Competition Center), second place to La Dam Huyen Trang (Lam Dong Provincial Training and Competition Center), and third place to Nguyen Thi Thu Ha (Ho Chi Minh City).

In the women's open team category, first place went to the Lam Dong Provincial Training and Competition Center, second place to Ho Chi Minh City, and third place to Ben Cat eBRC Club.

In the men's open category, first place went to athlete Pham Ngoc Phan (Lam Dong Provincial Training and Competition Center), second place to Do Duy Thang (Lam Dong Provincial Training and Competition Center), and third place to Le Van Tuan (Ho Chi Minh City).

In the men's open team category, first place went to the Lam Dong Provincial Training and Competition Center, second place to Ho Chi Minh City, and third place to Ben Cat eBRC Club.

Alongside this, the Lam Dong Provincial Training and Competition Center won first place overall, Ho Chi Minh City came in second, and Ben Cat eBRC Club took third place.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded prizes in the amateur and provincial sports festival categories.

The 2026 Lam Dong Province Ta Cu Mountain Climbing Competition was not just a sporting event, but also a celebration of solidarity, perseverance, and the conquest of the highest challenges for athletes from within and outside the province.
