The 27th Tà Cú Mountain Climbing Tournament (Expanded) Kicks Off in Hàm Thuận Nam – Bình Thuận

On the morning of February 4, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Hàm Thuận Nam District, hosted the 27th Tà Cú Mountain Climbing Tournament (Expanded) 2025. The opening ceremony was attended by Đặng Hồng Sỹ, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyễn Minh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyễn Thị Thuận Bích, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; along with leaders from various departments, agencies, and localities. A total of 385 athletes from both inside and outside the province participated in the competition.

The 27th Tà Cú Mountain Climbing Tournament is part of activities celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025), welcoming the Lunar New Year Ất Tỵ 2025, and commemorating the 79th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2025). The tournament aims to create an atmosphere of excitement in the early days of spring while promoting physical fitness and encouraging participation in sports. It also supports the national campaign "All People Exercise Following the Example of Great Uncle Hồ", emphasizing health for learning, working, building, and defending the country.


Participating Teams and Athletes

This year’s tournament attracted 54 teams from 10 provinces and cities nationwide, with 385 athletes competing. The competition is divided into different categories:

Grassroots Level: 144 athletes from 22 local units within the district
Provincial Level: 69 athletes from 9 provincial-level units
Expanded Level: 172 athletes from 21 teams

Athletes competed in the following events:

Women’s Race: 3,000m cross-country run and 2,300m mountain climb
Men’s Race: 4,000m cross-country run and 2,300m mountain climb

A Platform for Learning and Promoting Hàm Thuận Nam Tourism

According to Mai Thị Ngọc Ảnh, Vice Chairwoman of the Hàm Thuận Nam People's Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee, the Tà Cú Mountain Climbing Tournament provides an opportunity for teams and athletes to exchange experiences, enhance training and competition skills in mountain climbing, and foster unity among sports teams. The event also helps promote the famous Tà Cú Mountain Pagoda, a national scenic spot, to visitors from across the country, contributing to making Hàm Thuận Nam a safe, friendly, and attractive tourist destination.

To ensure fairness and professionalism in the competition, the Vice Chairwoman urged referees to maintain impartiality, technical staff to provide accurate and thorough support, and athletes to compete with dedication and uphold the spirit of “Sportsmanship, Solidarity, Honesty, and Nobility” to achieve the highest results.
