In the face of prolonged drought leading to affect the productivity and quality of sugarcane material areas in the districts and towns of the Southeastern provinces, Ms. Vu Thi Lan - TTC Gia Lai's Deputy Director said: farmers need to apply the underground cultivation methods for making new soil and the post-harvest sugarcane's stump. When planting sugarcane in drought conditions, farmers should apply one of two methods such as: irrigating sugarcane immediately after planting or irrigating before planting by machine and then spreading fertilizer and filling. This does not only help to save water while there is still enough moist to sprout. After harvesting, farmers need to leave the sugarcane leaves on the field to keep the soil moist.
