Irrigation system used solar power by farmers of Quang Son ward, Ninh Son district, Ninh Thuan province brought high effectiveness for sugarcane field when they don’t have national electricity net yet.
It is suitable with local climate
Ninh Thuan has much sunlight and wind, but it doesn’t have wind project, solar power in the big scale. Therefore, using solar power in manufacture and living help a lots for citizen who is living there, especially sugarcane area that is the biggest ones in Ninh Thuan in Quang Son ward, Ninh Son district. Due to drought weather all the year, water source is far from residential area, each sugarcane season, farmers pay much money to buy oil for pumping engine.

Solar power irrigation technology has applied in Quang Son ward since 2013, but at the first time, there are few farmers responsing due to high investment value
Mr. Tran Van Hoang shared: “Total cost for the whole system about VND 70 million – Not all farmers had. My family is supported 50% by International Fund of Agriculture Development, the rest amount rent by Phan Rang Sugarcane JSC without interest rate. When decide to invest, I research and know age of this model is very big, about 15 years. Set up an irrigation system used solar power about 8 – 10 ha therefore my family has courage to invest.
