Roadmap for Reducing Greenhouse Gases

With the greenhouse effect due to CO2, global warming, climate change, plastic waste is a dilemma that threatens the sustainable development of humanity. According to the World Bank, Vietnam is the fourth country in the world to dump plastic waste into the ocean. Meanwhile, according to the Vietnam Plastics Association, plastic products per capita in Vietnam have been increasing rapidly.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, every year in Vietnam, there are about 1.8 million tons of plastic waste, more than half of which is dumped into the sea. Currently, up to 90% of plastic waste is disposed of through landfill, backfilling or incineration, only 10% is recycled, while a plastic straw can take up to 200 years to fully decompose.

Regarding the presentation on the "Roadmap to Reduce Greenhouse Gases", expert Dang Hong Hanh, Director General of Energy Environment and Climate, conveyed the message that reducing carbon emissions requires the participation of the entire community. Indeed, companies will have to implement inventory and mitigation reports.

Most Vietnamese companies do business on the basis of a linear model, raw materials are used only once, which is not only wasteful, but also affects the natural ecological balance.

That's why, during the "Reducing Carbon Emissions" panel discussion, leaders from leading companies also proposed solutions, policy options and practical measures. According to Ms. Dang Huynh Uc My, Vice President of Thanh Thanh Cong-Bien Hoa Joint Stock Company (TTC AgriS), said, "In recent years, TTC AgriS has always been consistent on the path of sustainable development when developing a 'green' business strategy.
