The idea was put forward by Vice Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial People's Committee Hoang Hai Minh at today's (22/11) meeting with the leaders of the Vietnam Railway Company.
Hoang Hai Minh said Hue city is striving to become a centrally managed city, developing in the direction of an "eco-urban, landscape, heritage, cultural, environmentally friendly and intelligent city". In particular, priority is given to the development of the tourism industry as a key economic sector. Currently, Thua Thien-Hue province is known as the land of heritage and festivals, attracting many domestic and international tourists. Therefore, organizing a daily cruise train between Da Nang and Hue can both serve tourists and connect the central heritage lands. On the side of Vietnam Railways, Mr. Dang Sy Manh, Chairman of the Members' Council, said the railway is currently focusing on the efficient operation of regional trains, as well as improving vehicle quality, service quality and flexible fare adjustment, by exploiting the tourism products known by the railway. has created some successes, received public appreciation, attention and support. Consequently The company is willing to support Thua Thien - Hue in the connection of heritage tourism.

The Hue - Da Nang section consists of 12 stations with a length of 102 km, of which 3 stations are located on steep passes far from residential areas, and 9 stations can accommodate passengers: Hue, Huong Thuy, Truoi, Cau Hai, Thua Luu, Lang Co, Kim Lien, Thanh Khe and Da Nang.
Statistics in the first 10 months of 2023, the number of passengers traveling by train from Hue to Da Nang is about 74 thousand passengers, from Da Nang to Hue is 79 thousand guests. The average number of visitors moving between these two cities is 500 visitors per day. Currently, the railway operates 4 pairs of Thong Nhat trains and a pair of high-quality trains, operating to pick up and drop off passengers in Hue and Da Nang.
The travel time by train from Hue to Da Nang is around 3.5 to 4 hours, while the travel time by car is around 2 hours. However, the advantage of rail transport is that it passes through the center of both cities, so it is very convenient for passengers, especially tourists.
Regarding the preparation of the train organization, VN Railways General Manager Hoang Gia Khanh said that the company is working out a plan to realize this project soon, including detailed planning of train fares, priority to run in golden hours, etc.
