In December 2023, the People’s Committee of the City of Da Lat will organize the Week of Activities to celebrate «Da Lat 130 years of establishment and development». The mixture of natural landscapes, unique architecture and creative work of ethnic communities has created the 130-year-old urban area of Dalat with many unique features.

On this occasion, Tuoi Tre had an exchange with Dr Pham S, vice-president of the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee.

“Dalat is a unique city that has become an attractive destination for tourists who love to explore and sustainable green tourism. Therefore, rational exploitation of the value of cultural and natural heritages is an indispensable condition for high-quality development today and in the future. “

Dr. Pham S (Vice-President of the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee

Sir, what are the fundamental development benefits of Da Lat?

- Cold, mild is nature’s advantage. However, the city of Da Lat is also a place of convergence and life of 20 ethnic groups, so it has human resources imbued with a traditional identity with many unique customs, architectures, houses and folk festivals.

Dalat is known for its unique architecture of wooden houses, castles and villas, the preservation and exploitation of this architecture can create tourist opportunities.

Da Lat currently has three UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites, namely: Intangible Cultural Heritage “Gong Cultural Space of the Central Highlands”; Documentary Heritage “Wood Engravings of the Nguyen Dynasty” and Da Lat was recognized by UNESCO as a member of the World Network of Creative Cities in the field of music.

The path to green and sustainable economic development is not easy?

-Right. There are still many limits that need to be recognized and overcome for sustainable development. Can immediately tell what happened and what is being processed. Some companies take advantage of preferential policies and attract tourism investment to register for investment, but project implementation is too late and prolonged, resulting in wasted land resources.

Some tourist services activities are still fragmented and competition is not healthy. There is a negative situation in the booking and sale of specialties that arouse the distrust of visitors.

* So how is the solution proposed, sir?

The Lam Dong Provincial Committee has focused on the development of high quality tourism until 2025, oriented towards 2030. As a result, continue to promote the tourism achievements of recent years, especially human values; continue to promote the local brand «Da Lat - miraculous crystallization from healthy soil» in many forms.

Promote the transformation of the tourism industry from quantity to quality, with high quality products so that tourists can spend more and stay longer in Da Lat. Night saving is also a solution to achieve the aforementioned orientation.

Expanding public-private partnerships to develop quality tourism in Da Lat requires cooperation between local authorities, tourism businesses and local communities

* Tourism development in Da Lat faces challenges due to quality of traffic, infrastructure and human resources. How is this managed?

Lam Dong province is investing urgently in the development of transport infrastructure projects: Tan Phu - Bao Loc, Bao Loc - Khuong Link highway projects. It is expected that by 2026 it will be completed and connected to the Dau Giay Highway to smoothly connect to Ho Chi Minh City. HCM.

In anticipation of Dalat’s development, Lam Dong Province is also expanding Lien Khuong International Airport.

Attract high-quality global human resource training projects in the tourism sector, such as the Swiss model; establish the International Tourism CEO Training Academy to recruit students to train global students to specialize in tourism, as in the world, Da Lat is able to respond to these types of tourism, with the exception of maritime tourism.

* Mr. Dang Quang Tu (Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Lat City)

The city of music

Mr. Dang Quang Tu

In 2022, Da Lat City was determined to revive tourism with the goal of welcoming 4-5 million visitors.

That goal was quickly achieved through the coordination of strengths in resort tourism, sports, and the arts.

Three important areas have been the driving force for recovery and growth in 2023. Recent data shows that Da Lat City has welcomed over 6.5 million visitors, nearly matching the figures from 2019 before the COVID pandemic.

The next phase is an important journey for Da Lat.

The city recognizes that sustainable tourism combined with culture and the arts is an important trend in the current and future global tourism industry, with an increasing awareness of environmental protection and the exploration of unique cultural values and natural resources of each country.

Dalat provides flowers for residents to decorate their homes

Miss Ngoc Han

Ngoc Han likes to talk about the little things of Dalat, such as the old wooden houses.

The small houses are decorated with flowers. In Dalat, any house with flowers is beautiful, regardless of its architecture.

I think the city should boldly support flowers for residents to plant in front of their houses, balconies...

Oh, those closely packed houses in the suburbs covered with flowers would make music have to speak up, and painting probably couldn't just stand by.

More than a million advertisements if both languages of art resonate together.
