According to data released this morning by the National Administration of Tourism, more than 1.23 million international visitors came to Vietnam in November, an increase of 11 percent compared to October, setting a record as the most visited month so far this year.

In total, over the past 11 months, Vietnam has welcomed more than 11.2 million international visitors, exceeding the plan set at the beginning of the year by 40 percent. This figure also shows that the number of international visitors to Vietnam was 3.8 times higher than in the same period last year and equal to 68.9% compared to the same period in 2019 – before the Covid-19 pandemic.

So far, Korea continues to be the largest remittance market in the first 11 months of the year with 3.2 million arrivals, or 28.5%. Mainland China comes in second with 1.5 million. This is followed by Taiwan (758,000 arrivals), the United States (658,000 arrivals) and Japan (527,000 arrivals). The other markets in the top 10 are Thailand (442,000), Malaysia (419,000), Cambodia (359,000), Australia (353,000) and India (352,000).

The United Kingdom (232,000 arrivals), France (195,000 arrivals) and Germany (182,000 arrivals) are the largest sending markets to Vietnam in the European region this year.

South Korea continued to be the largest remittance market in the first 11 months of the year.

Meanwhile, the number of domestic visitors in November 2023 is estimated at 4.5 million, of which about 3 million remain. The total number of visitors in the 11 months of 2023 reached 103.2 million.

As far as entry documents are concerned, 25% enter by e-visa, 25% enter by visa and new alternative documents, i.e. in addition to the e-visa, there are other documents such as temporary residence cards, APEC cards or unilateral visa waiver certificates. In terms of nationality, the largest Korean visitors accounted for 27 percent, China 20 percent, Taiwan (China) 7 percent, Japan 6 percent, the United States 5 percent.

November also marked another breakthrough with strong growth in visa-free markets.

In addition to continuing to expand regulations on visa policies, economic and tourism experts said Vietnam should promote the development of typical tourism products, actively promote destinations through promotions and promotion programs.

"The research and development of the night-time tourism economy in major tourist cities is very important. When the market is weak, we can support tourists directly or indirectly by offering subsidies or gifts through reputable tour operators. This is a strategy applied by many countries, especially for Korean, Singaporean and Thai tourists," Mr. Le Cong Nang, CEO of Wonder Travel Agency

Localities have actively implemented many tourism products, cultural and sports activities to boost tourism demand.

Thus, the night-time economy can be effectively combined with cultural and sporting events. The recent hosting of the Blackpink event is a testament to culture's ability to create economic value as important as sport. The tourism industry needs to propose and organize international events to attract tourists. In parallel with events of an international and national nature, the Board of Directors can review and readjust the construction and the management of current national events.

Recently, the British magazine Outlook Traveller also published an article claiming that Vietnam has become a famous tourist destination despite the pandemic. Vietnam has quickly become one of the top tourist destinations for international visitors, with three cities namely Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City – ranked in the top 10 fastest-growing "digital nomad" hotspots in the world.

Outlook Traveller magazine points out that its stunning natural landscapes, reliable internet speeds, and affordable prices are the main factors contributing to Vietnam's popularity.
