In the first 10 months of this year, the Vietnamese tourism industry easily achieved the set goal. However, travel and tourism companies are still looking forward to the market in the final months of the year.

According to the National Tourism Administration of Vietnam, in October 2023 alone, domestic tourism welcomed more than 5.2 million visitors, bringing the number of domestic visitors in the first 10 months of the year to 98.7 million.
National visitors play a key role
In addition to Korea, the markets of China, Japan, Taiwan... is highly sought after by tourists thanks to its good prices. A representative of Saigontourist said tours with new destinations or promise new experiences attract tourists, in which many customers are willing to spend large sums of money to live new experiences.
Meanwhile, according to Nguyen Nguyet Van Khanh, representative of Vietravel, with some tours that interest many Vietnamese tourists, such as China, the company is still actively linked and cooperates with tourism promotion agencies, communities ... to promote and launch good tourism products, bringing many new experiences to customers.
However, Thi Quoc Duy, director of the BenThanh Tourism Centre, said the domestic market still plays a key role for travel companies. Autumn tours are chosen by Vietnamese tourists, Christmas or New Year tours have also been booked, falling mainly into long distance tours such as Europe and America.
In particular, the market for small or medium distances has not moved much, as customers still have plenty of time to choose. “It’s difficult economically, so tours don’t sell as well as they do every year. However, tour operators are trying to launch new products, order airline tickets in advance to keep travel prices stable,” Duy said.

Vu Ngoc Lam, director of Agoda in Vietnam, said that instead of turning to famous places as before, the number of searches for places that were of little interest increased significantly.
“We want to take this opportunity to introduce new places beyond those we are familiar with in Vietnam, as well as to discover what attracted travel enthusiasts to explore less crowded lands,” said Lam.
“Vietnam has a lot to explore. We are aware that second and third tier destinations are increasingly in demand and there are many opportunities to develop Vietnamese tourism,” said Lam.
Tourism in Vietnam reaches 10 million international visitors
According to the National Tourism Administration of Vietnam, in the 10 months of 2023, the tourism industry welcomed nearly 10 million international visitors. In particular, in October alone, Vietnam welcomed about 1.11 million international visitors. This is the fourth consecutive month that the tourism industry welcomes more than one million international visitors.
South Korea remained the largest sending market in 10 months with 2.9 million arrivals and China ranked second with 1.3 million. These two markets account for 42% of total international visitors to Vietnam. In third place is the US market with 667,000 arrivals, followed by the Taiwanese market with 606,000 arrivals, the Japanese market with 469,000 arrivals...
In South-East Asia, Thailand leads the number of visitors to Vietnam with 392,000 arrivals, followed by Malaysia with 372,000 arrivals and Cambodia with about 326,000 arrivals. Australia and India combined reached 314,000 arrivals.
