On the morning of October 23, 2023, an international seminar on tourism development cooperation between Vietnam and Japan was held in Hanoi, organized by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism in collaboration with the Japan Transport and Tourism Research Institute. The seminar was attended by Vice Minister Doan Van Viet and Shukuri Masafumi, President of Japan's Transport and Tourism Research Institute.
Themed "Overcrowding of visitors in tourist centers and development of satellite destinations – Vietnam and Japan together towards sustainable tourism", the seminar is one of the milestone events for the two countries tourism industry on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Japan.
In his welcome speech, Deputy Minister of VET Doan Van Viet said that since the official establishment of diplomacy (1973 - 2023), Vietnam and Japan have joined hands to cultivate increasingly practical and effective friendship and cooperation, based on cultural similarities.

The Importance of Satellite Destinations for Sustainable Tourism
It is important to develop satellite destinations to reduce the load on the core area. In order to move towards sustainable tourism, and tackle overpopulation, the development of satellite destinations is necessary and certainly accompanied by planning, planning, and management of implementation.
In this regard, Mr. Gamo Atsumi - Director of the Japan National Tourism Organization said that Japan has defined a new tourism policy for the period 2023-2025 which is sustainable tourism, expanding consumption and attracting regional tourists, which emphasizes a marketing strategy consisting of 3 parts: clean market, cross-market and MICE.
