Vietnam used to the top nation in rice export but it is refused by international due to unsuitable quality.

Vietnamese rice has had its day
In the peak time, Vietnam used to the top nation in rice export aspect. However, its position is loosing to other competitors.
According to the data of Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry, September, 2016, rice export amount is estimated 396,000 ton value USD 176 million. Accumulated in early 9 months, rice export is estimated 3.76 million ton value USD 1.69 billion, reducing 16.4% of weight and reduce 12.5% of value compared the same period in 2015. If we do not have breakthrough in the market, productivity is 6.5 million ton and according to the plan, it will reduce to about 5.7 million ton in direct quota way. Therefore, the pressure to find to output of rice is very high in competitive context.
Not only facing difficulty to the output, Vietnamese rice also denied by some countries. Particularly, Some rice cargos exporting to USA were returned back, it concerns many experts to the threat of Vietnamese rice is involved when export to the USA, even facing ban risk.
Afraid of Vietnamese rice exporting to USA is return back, prof. dr Vo Tong Xuan, principal of South Can Tho university, said: “The problem will impact dramatically to the trust of Vietnamese rice to the export market.
Vietnamese rice is sent back maybe not a new story. It is about whether this information is public or not. In many years, enterprises and agriculture in Cuu Long delta understood and saw many risks of farmers using fertilizer with no consideration.
It is need to be unleashed.
To unleash the difficulty for Vietnamese rice and agriculture product, Prof. Dr Vo Tong Xuan said: “The most favor solution is organzing to connect farmer to farmer in new agriculture artel or high-tech agriculture connection area and connect artel to enterprise in the value chain model to good and clean rice
In the context of those difficulties, enteprises are forced to change. Enterprises have to control rice manufacture process and make sure the output. Rice achieved the standard will be approved to export. Because, currently, customers always require high standard food hygiene safety, products have transparent information, clear original, etc. Only changing, adaptation, rice manufacturers continually exist.
