The agricultural position will contribute to consolidating Vietnam's position - its reliability and trustworthiness, as affirmed right from the beginning of the new Lunar Year of the Tiger in 2024.
The agricultural export turnover reaching over 55 billion USD in 2024 is entirely within the reach of Vietnam's agriculture.
The agricultural position receives attention from the whole society as it enters the new spring of the Lunar Year of the Tiger 2024. On the 6th day of Tet, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the government delegation experienced the model of machine-seeded tray cultivation in footprint-free fields in Hai Duong province. The intimate and friendly image of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh among farmers not only brings many positive emotions to the community but also directly proves that the agricultural position indeed contributes to Vietnam's position.
In the past year 2023, despite facing many difficulties in the general economic context, the agricultural growth rate still achieved positive results, with export value reaching over 53 billion USD. The plan to bring the export value of agricultural products to over 55 billion USD in 2024 is entirely within the potential of Vietnam's agriculture, which is currently experiencing a strong resurgence.
Based on the civilization of wet rice cultivation, Vietnamese agriculture is increasingly proving its role as the backbone of Vietnamese people's lives in the era of integration. Prices of many agricultural products such as coffee, durian, pepper, vegetables, etc., are rising on the market, helping to significantly improve the income of farmers. Especially, Vietnamese rice has become a bright spot of excitement. Thanks to continuous improvement in quality, the price of Vietnamese rice has reached 600 USD/ton. At the International Rice Festival Vietnam 2023 held in Hau Giang, many international partners expressed their trust and signed contracts to order Vietnamese rice products.
The successes affirming Vietnam's agricultural position in 2023 are not accidental. Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW on agriculture, farmers, rural areas by 2030, with a vision to 2045, clearly states the concept that agriculture is a national advantage, the backbone of the economy. Efficient agricultural development, integrated with multiple added values towards enhancing added value, competitiveness, and promoting the development of post-harvest processing industries and agricultural product markets both domestically and internationally contribute to ensuring food safety, national food security, and environmental protection. At the same time, there is a shift from agricultural production to agricultural economic development aligned with market demand. Exploiting the advantages of regions, areas, and localities, organizing agricultural production and business according to value chains, based on science and technology, and innovation.
Therefore, the prosperity of Vietnamese agriculture is a harmony between the Party's aspirations and the people's desires. The main links that make up Vietnam's agricultural position, from cultivation, husbandry, aquaculture, forestry, and salt production, all carefully consider the advantages and disadvantages to find a sustainable development path. The diligence and creativity of farmers must receive proportional response, which is the core criterion when issuing each policy, implementing each decision.
The millennium-old experience of Vietnamese rural areas, supported by modern technology, is gradually building green agriculture, organic agriculture, and cyclical agriculture. On the fertile land imbued with the warmth of ancestors, today's farmers no longer rush to "go up the mountains and down to the rivers" but cherish every existing green color with beauty and freshness. Looking from the Lunar New Year of the Tiger, if farmers in the Northwest quickly switch crops to suit the dreams of vast mountains, farmers in the Mekong Delta are excited about the project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice. A new problem is being considered by farmers, that is, the agricultural position not only includes harvesting agricultural products but also a reliable source of credit. The palm hills of Phu Tho, the cashew gardens of Binh Phuoc, the coconut rows of Ben Tre, the mangrove forests of Ca Mau... all directly participate in promoting future development.
Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW on agriculture, farmers, rural areas by 2030, with a vision to 2045, also identifies farmers as the subject, the center of the process of agricultural development, rural economic development, and new rural construction. Building a farmer class associated with agricultural development and the process of industrialization and urbanization of rural areas. The highest goal in agricultural and rural development is to comprehensively improve the material and spiritual life of farmers and rural residents. Therefore, Vietnam's agricultural position relies on Vietnamese farmers.
It is time to have a different view of Vietnamese farmers. They are not just rural and rustic people. In the process of intellectualizing farmers, they are proud of their diligent hands, compassionate hearts, and proud eyes. Vietnamese farmers reject making money through deception. A fragrant bowl of rice after each harvest gleams with diligent sweat. Amidst the hustle and bustle of chasing fame and fortune with many short-sighted, lowly cunning schemes threatening social stability, we must appreciate the upright posture of farmers in the fields in the rain and sunshine.
Perhaps there is no doubt when recalling a truth, Vietnam's agricultural position is indeed the position of Vietnamese farmers. The dreams of Vietnamese farmers in the high mountains of the Northwest, the coastal fishing villages of the Central region, or the small villages with fruit gardens in the South, all aim towards the good values of the Vietnamese nation. Those who sow seeds, cast nets, make salt, raise pigs, or protect forests... all preserve transparency and progress for Vietnamese agriculture.
Above all, to have Vietnam's agricultural position, every farmer must understand that wealth sometimes depends on the luck of fate, while true generosity must be nurtured by constant selection and continuous and persevering self-cultivation. Therefore, Vietnam's position begins with the beauty of Vietnamese farmers.
