VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, in coordination with the Thai Chamber of Commerce, held a seminar on Vietnam-Thailand education connection on February 21, 2024, to exchange views on the current situation of education and training cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand, and to discuss the direction of training human resources according to the needs of businesses.

The seminar was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Thailand-Vietnam Friendship Association, Sanan Angubolkul, Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Nikorndej Balankura, and representatives from the Thai Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. Particularly, the seminar was attended by representatives from about 30 prestigious universities in Thailand, Thai businesses investing in Vietnam, some study abroad consulting companies, and many Vietnamese students in Thailand.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh emphasized the significance of the event in understanding the needs, exploring opportunities, and addressing challenges in promoting educational cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand.

Ambassador Phan Chi Thanh stated: "I believe that people are the key to success in all forms of cooperation. That is why we are discussing ways to encourage people to participate in the cooperation between the two countries and how to train them to contribute more to the future development of both nations. We believe that education and training are the keys to the future of Vietnam-Thailand cooperation."

Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Sanan Angubolkul, expressed his pleasure that more and more Vietnamese students are studying at educational institutions in Thailand, and he expects the number of Vietnamese students to increase to about 5,000 per year in the future.

Sanan Angubolkul emphasized: "I think we need support from all of you. This is definitely a very good academic opportunity and also a great time to connect with businesses here. This will help promote closer and more effective cooperation between the business community and educational institutions. Our cooperation has certainly brought many benefits to both countries, and I sincerely hope that we can continue to move forward in our joint efforts for the development of our people."

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and CEO of Bangkok Bank in Vietnam, Tharabodee Serng-Adichaiwit, stated that, given the large-scale expansion of major Thai corporations in Vietnam, there is a significant demand for labor equipped with knowledge, skills, culture, and understanding of Thai, Vietnamese, and English languages.

Tharabodee Serng-Adichaiwit further added that the SCG Group currently employs up to 15,000 Vietnamese workers at its production and business facilities in Vietnam.

She shared: "We hope to cooperate in designing training programs with universities and colleges in Vietnam. With our current business activities in Vietnam, we will need even more Vietnamese labor. Another point is that Vietnamese workers have great strengths with characteristics that few countries have, such as being diligent and constantly learning to improve themselves, making them the best workforce in the current environment of constantly changing trends and environments."

During the open discussion session of the seminar, the focus was on exchanging views on the model of collaboration and transfer of training programs between educational institutions, the direction and training needs of the private sector to serve the investment needs of Thai businesses in Vietnam, methods to enhance the quality of education and training in the current period, ways to attract Vietnamese students to study at educational institutions in Thailand.

Many opinions also addressed solutions to develop training programs, business connections, learning, and internships at companies, recruitment skills, scholarship packages, and support measures for Vietnamese students studying in Thailand...
