According to Culture heritage office (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), “Tay Nguyen gong culture space heritage” is one of the traditional culture heritages which is original and precious of ethnic minority of Tay Nguyen.
Since 2005, “Tay Nguyen gong culture space” recognized by UNESCO as a “Spirit Culture Heritage of Human”. Protection, inheritance and promoting heritage value which are speacially taken attention by authourities and communities levels.
One of the projects is highly evaluated is: “Protecting Dak Nong province gong culture space” sponsored by UNESCO. In there, implementing protection activities and prmoting heritage value helping awareness acceleration of community practicing heritage, levels of authorities. Community saw the necessary of protection, gong archive, ceremony, credence, festival.
In 2015, there are 52 people has practiced gong in 5 provinces in the West awarded tittle by president “great craftsman”
However, currently, heritage protection is facing difficulties, threats
Like economy transformation, from the rice to industrial plant (Coffee, rubber, etc.), lead to the reduction of gong practicing associated with traditional manufacture activities. The village space, sepulcher, etc. are the gong culture space and they are reduced and replaced by firmly house, well. Life and morden activities make change of consciousness about the community perspective of gong culture
The development of social and economic creates entertainment types and attracts the youth, therefore, leading them study to play gong and traditional cultures getting harder. The youth is not really love, care to gong whereas many good craftsmen continually pass away because of old age.
Therefore, need to socialism in protecting and promoting gong culture space value, also continually support, expand gong craftsman, epic have been implemented in Gia Lai and nearly provinces.
