Vietnam Electricity (EVN) said, the total production of electricity source currently is 38,800 MW, the projected total production is additionally operated 3,500 MW, which bring electricity source productivity of the whole national electricity system in 2016 will be 42,300 MW
The proportion of hydroelectricity power plant is still accounting over 30% of total electricity source production. Because of extreme climate, El-nino phenomenon, consistent drought, therefore storing water of lake to generate electricity in late 2015 is lack of 2.5 billion KW of electricity production.
Projection, hydrologic situation will be not favourable, drought possibility in wide area in first half of 2016 because of El-nino effect, therefore, operating hydroelectricity lake to generate electricity and meet the water demand for agriculture and civilization livelihood will be tought.
According to Mr.Dinh Quang Tri, Vice General Manager of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), EVN electricity production is accounting 40% of total electricity demand and has a downward trend in 2016 – 2020. Therefore, to make sure electricity supply, besides effort of EVN, it depends a lot from investment progress of new electricity projects as well as production ability of other power plants which are not owned by EVN.
