Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company achieves 100 billion kWh electricity production milestone

VIETNAM ENERGY - At 00:19 on February 17, 2024, Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company officially reached the milestone of producing 100 billion kWh of electricity. This is a significant achievement for the company after more than 9 years of establishment, making positive contributions to the supply of electricity for socio-economic development and ensuring national energy security.

Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company is a subsidiary of Power Generation Corporation 1 (EVNGENCO1), entrusted with the management and operation of Duyen Hai Thermal Power Plant 1 and Duyen Hai Thermal Power Plant 3 (with a total installed capacity of 2,490 MW), and Duyen Hai Power Center seaport capable of receiving coal vessels with a tonnage of up to 30,000 tons (invested by EVNGENCO1) and operating the leased Duyen Hai Thermal Power Plant 3 expansion (invested by Vietnam Electricity Group - EVN at Duyen Hai Power Center), with a designed capacity of 688 MW.

Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company is one of the power generation units with high installed capacity in the country, accounting for about 11.39% of coal-fired power plant capacity and 3.94% of the capacity of Vietnam's power system.

Since its operation (from 2015 until now), the plants have always maintained safe and continuous electricity production, effectively meeting the operational requirements of the national power system. They have achieved and exceeded optimal cost targets (self-consumption electricity saving rate, fuel saving rate, outage rate, availability factor). Simultaneously, ensuring safety in production, limiting subjective incidents, handling equipment abnormalities well, and promptly putting units into operation. Good performance in technical management targets, strictly implementing procedures, regulations in operation, maintenance, and equipment management.

Additionally, the company has performed well in equipment maintenance and repair plans, construction works, ensuring the safety and reliability of units, equipment systems, and constructions. Major repairs, overhauls of units have been carried out according to the set schedule, shortening downtime for maintenance, bringing high economic efficiency.

With the existing production lines, the power generation capacity of the plants can reach over 20 billion kWh per year. Thereby, contributing to meeting the electricity demand for socio-economic development of the whole country and especially the Mekong Delta region.

During its operation, the company has always strictly complied with environmental protection regulations and policies, actively coordinated with functional agencies to inspect and supervise environmental protection work at the plants. Currently, the plants managed by the company are equipped with advanced environmental treatment systems commonly applied in thermal power plants worldwide. They are closely monitored during construction and operation, such as: NOx treatment system using NH3 (SCR); electrostatic precipitator (ESP) dust filtration system; SOx treatment system using seawater (FGD); 210m high smokestack and online monitoring system for emissions, wastewater...

The company has been highly appreciated by local authorities and people for its effective contributions to the socio-economic development of the locality. Up to the end of 2023, the company contributed more than 9,871 billion VND to the state budget of Tra Vinh province, creating stable employment and income for workers, with the majority being locals (accounting for 63.3% of the company's employees).

In recent years, the company has regularly accompanied and supported social welfare activities in the area with many practical and effective programs such as: Annual organization of the "Duyen Hai Compassion" program; building houses of love for disadvantaged families; sponsoring medical equipment, education; road construction for communities, contributing to scholarship funds... with a total budget of over 54 billion VND, contributing to sharing difficulties, joining hands with the authorities to take care of the material and spiritual life of the local people.

Speaking at the ceremony to celebrate the plants reaching the 100 billion kWh production milestone, Director of the Company, Mr. Ngo Van Sy expressed sincere thanks to the leadership and all employees of the company who have tirelessly worked, especially their professionalism, teamwork spirit, and perseverance to overcome difficult stages to successfully fulfill their tasks.

Although being a young entity within the Corporation (9 years since establishment), with a sense of responsibility and creativity in labor, the collective of officials, employees, and workers of Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company has always been determined, striving to fulfill their assigned tasks.

In the coming time, Mr. Ngo Van Sy believes that with a professional, united, and dedicated team, Duyen Hai Thermal Power Company will endeavor to overcome all challenges and difficulties to continue managing and operating the plants safely, continuously, and achieve even more success, contributing to the development of EVN in general and EVNGENCO1 in particular.
