That is confirmation of Ministry of Industry and Trade launched at the workshop "Renewable energy in 2016" by Vietnam Sustainable Energy Alliance (VSEA) organization.
Mr. Pham Trong Thuc - Director General of Renewable Energy Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) - said that some solar power projects would be put into operation for adding into the power supply after 2018, according to the request of the Government.
In order to attract private investors to participate in this sector, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam has required EVN must buy all the renewable energy resources produced by enterprises, attracting in the Decision no.2068. In addition, to promote the installation of roof solar systems, Mr. Thuc said the regulation has introduced the clearing mechanism. Accordingly, EVN will play the role as buyer of electricity at the price regulated by Government, customers will purchase electricity from the national electricity system for using, then be compensated in payment after balancing the supply and the power consumption.
According to Mr. Thuc, the Decision no.2068 also requires that the investors using lots of fossil fuels have responsibility to develop the renewable energy. For example, the enterprises has been required to invest in development of 30MW renewable electricity if they develop 1,000MW coal power.
