According to Mr. Ta Chi Khanh, Vice President of Krong Pa People Committee, the soil here is quite droughly, rocky and difficult to use for agriculture activities. However, the amount of Sun hours is up to 2,600 hours/year and base temperatures of surrounding area are relatively high with the average of 25 Celcius Degree, sometimes it peaks to 40 Celcius Degree. With this condition, the Solar Energy Power Plants are considered to be effective in both Environment and Economic aspects. “With the potential of Krong Pa Commune, currently the People Committee has allowed 17 investors to perform reconnaissance avtivity on 19 locations in order to deploy the Solar Power Plants with total capacity approx. 1.000 MW. This is a huge potential which contributes to help developing National renewable energy, the act is also the premise for Krong Pa Commune to keep changing Economy structure from lowering value of agriculture to increasing the industrial ones in the future”.
Gia Lai is a pioneer in deploying renewable energy plans including solar energy. Mr. Ho Phuoc Thanh, Director of Department of Planning and Invesment says that there are 23 investors register for 33 solar energy power plans with total capacity nearly 4.000 MW. There are 11 investors proposed by the Province to Ministry of Industry and Trade for addtinonal plan and 2 plans were already proceeded. Determine this is the strategic direction for developing renewable energy, promoting to develope social economy along with Government support policies, the Province also has incentive policy to increase attraction for these projects. Government customs are shorten, Government and companies join together to accelerate the land clearance process.
No waste, no emmision and using unlimitted recycling power source, solar energy power plants in Gia Lai are expected to bring big changes for local industry.
