Nghi Son oil refinery project, which has the investment of over $9 billion, has introduced the first product line of 5.000 cube meter of RON 92 gasoline after 4 years under construction. This event is crucial in terms of national energy security and the development of Thanh Hoa Province.
The project was started in October 2013 and finished in April 2017. It uses the most state-of-the-art technology in oil refinery industry. Kuwait supplied all the amount of raw oil served in the whole life cycle of the project. The products of the factory include liquefied gas LPG, A92 and A95 gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, para xylene, benzyl, polypropylene and sulfur.
Once the factory is officially operated and runs at its peak productivity, products will meet the demand of 40% of total domestic gasoline demand. The factory also partly entail Nghi Son economic park become the motivation of Thanh Hoa’s economic growth.
Previously, in late February 2018, at the meeting with Thanh Hoa’s government, the representatives of Idemitsu Kosan Japan (one of the four investors of the project) claimed that they had finished transfer technology to Vietnamese party.
